A Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Story:
Many people have asked about pelvic health physical therapy and whom we help.
When you have problems related to pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, scar tissue stiffness, abdominal pain, prolapse, urinary leakage, and especially bowel problems, then we have you covered.
But let's tell you a story:
Meet Olivia
Olivia loves to go on road trips.
Unfortunately, she struggles with pelvic floor dysfunction, and she needs to plan her whole life around where the bathrooms are.
Olivia has a trip planned to Carlsbad Caverns, knowing that an elevator and restroom will be nearby.
She had undergone pelvic PT previously and received excellent exercises, but bathrooms still seem to rule her life.
Does this sound like you? Sometimes, our clients need a holistic approach to their problems. Just doing pelvic floor exercises may not be the solution.
As the trip approached, Olivia grew increasingly frustrated. With renewed determination, she delved into the internet in search of solutions to her problem.
After spending countless hours online, she felt a sense of accomplishment for all the valuable information she had gathered.
However, she was still unable to determine which information was relevant to her and which could be ignored.
Searching for health information about pelvic floor dysfunction online has its advantages and disadvantages. While we encourage our clients to do their own research, we also recognize that it can become overwhelming, with people feeling more lost after the fact.
Olivia was starting to feel depressed.
She initially kept her pelvic floor problem hidden, but she feels that the situation is now affecting the lives of others, which is making her even sadder.
Sometimes, those around us can understand the physical symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction but don't fully appreciate how devastating the emotional impact can be.
Olivia initially decided to cancel her trip.
At one point, she thought about pelvic floor therapy but felt she didn't have the energy to address her issue, especially since she had already undergone Pelvic PT.
However, with support from her daughter and after some contemplation, Olivia ultimately chose to seek pelvic PT help. She expressed that she needed assistance and wanted to focus on enjoying life rather than constantly trying to cure herself.
We understand how overwhelming pelvic floor dysfunction can feel. Feel free to reach out to our pelvic floor therapist.
Delaying Pelvic Floor Therapy
-
We often hear people express regret for not starting pelvic therapy sooner, stating they wasted time trying to figure it out on their own.
-
We also hear people say that with this new information, they might have been able to avoid or postpone surgery.
The Benefit of Pelvic Floor Therapy
-
A frequent comment from our clients is that pelvic floor physical therapy reduces their anxiety and worry.
-
Our clients report they recover more quickly.
-
Some were able to reduce or eliminate their need for medication.
-
They achieved goals they previously thought were unattainable.
-
They can now engage in activities they previously avoided.
-
Many report that attending pelvic therapy at our clinic helped them feel empowered to manage their situation effectively.
What happened to Olivia?
Olivia had many tools in her toolbox to help her stop the leaking and urgency, but she just needed some guidance to put it all together. She was also one of the few who needed Kegel exercises, and we showed her how to do it correctly. We helped her understand how breathing and the way you move can cause leaking and educated her on lifestyle habits and diet to avoid urgency.
After just a few pelvic PT sessions with us, Olivia was able to go on her trip without any leakage or urgency.
Sunel has given my mom her life back! She is now able to go on adventures without fear of leaking or feeling such an urge all the time. Sunel seeks to empower each and every patient with the tools and knowledge they need to take back control and live a full life beyond the body's challenges.

What makes our pelvic floor therapy clinic different?
1. Besides being your pelvic floor physical therapist, we also strive to be your pelvic floor therapy guide.
As your pelvic floor therapist, we evaluate all factors contributing to your problem, finding the root cause and most effective treatment plan.
As your pelvic floor guide, we truly work with you. We encourage you to bring all the information and self-treatment you have undertaken so far, and we will help you determine the best course of action to get better faster.
2. We provide holistic treatment.
We combine evidence-based physical therapy and alternative medicine principles, such as believing that the body can help itself improve. One of our core principles is encouraging you to work WITH your body instead of against it.
3. We provide a safe place, and you will have only one therapist throughout your care.
We do not have to hand you over to another person at any point in your care.
4. We offer you a choice of visit length, which can change throughout your care.
We have found that choosing the length of a visit enables people to personalize their visits to fit their style.
Some see the extra time as providing a calm, while others find it allows them to get more out of the visit, be it more information or practice time with our therapist, and ultimately decrease the number of overall visits they need.
Others find the shorter visits more than adequate, especially later in their care.
5. We offer an out-of-town program for those living outside the city.
Through this program, you can see us through a combination of options, which may include in-office sessions (longer sessions or broken up into two sessions on a day) and telehealth sessions.
6. Because our pelvic floor therapist has extensive pediatric experience, you may find our exercises different and fun.
We believe in the effectiveness of appropriate exercise, precise manual therapy, and the power of your determination to get better.
7. We prioritize your needs, are flexible in our approach,
and offer what is best for you
rather than trying to fit you into our agenda.

I have More Questions about pelvic floor therapy:
I am not sure if I have a pelvic floor dysfunction or an orthopedic problem.
We provide whole-body care so you can schedule an evaluation for pelvic and orthopedic problems. We go beyond the usual physical therapy evaluation and examine nerves, organs, diet, sleep, and other factors affecting your quality of life. By determining the root cause of your problem, we can see if your pelvic floor is at fault. You can also fill out this screen to help you decide whether you may have pelvic floor dysfunction.
